DJI Mavic Pro Platinum was my second FPV drone, and the test flight made me convinced that this quadcopter is really going to satiate my photography passion.

The sleek looks and shiny surface was not just that made me impressed; rather, it was a noise control performance, increased stability, and the latest aerodynamic design that impressed me.

It's far quieter and flies longer than Mavic pro.

Here is your true mate, the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum, if you are hunting a quadcopter for vlogging, photography, or video production.

Hit your creative moment with a mini drone, Mavic Pro Platinum, to feel the hovering power of your camera while capturing some unusual.

Let me talk some more about it in detail.

Design and Structure:

The second version of the Mavic Pro drone, the DJI Mavic Pro (Platinum), is a better mini drone in the market. It has a sleek and foldable design, which makes it a perfect companion to take on adventures.

This upgraded version has no specific changes done to the basic design. The Mavic Pro and this mini drone pretty much look alike except that the Mavic Platinum has a silver finish.

The impressive design comes with a number of handy accessories along with incredible built-in safety features. It is also easier to install and set up than its counterparts in the Mavic Pro mini drone series.

Size:

The difference in size between Mavic Pro Platinum and its predecessors is that it is easier to carry and transport. This mini drone does not require its own backpack like the Phantom 4 Pro. You can throw it in any backpack and be on your way.

If we talk about the drone’s size, it’s pretty much reduced to a pocket-sized device. It has one of the most compact designs in the entire Mavic Pro small drone series.

The only difference you might notice is that the camera and the drone’s body is a tad too close to the floor. The low-profile design is expected because of the compactness of the device.

Foldability:

Videographers, photographers, and reviewers claim that this mini drone basically turns into a pocket device when folded. You’ll be surprised to know that it measures 8.3 x 8.3 x 19.8 cm in height, width, and length when folded.

Another great feature that adds to the foldability of the device is the foldable roto arms. The arms can be collapsed into the drone’s body that ultimately reduces its size.

Other than its incredible foldability, it resembles the Mavic Pro mini drone that has a dark greyish body.

Stability and Durability:

At first glance, it might seem that the new Mavic Pro Platinum is a little flimsy. However, the compactness of the design doesn’t compromise its stability and durability at all.

The rotor arms feel a lot sturdier than they look, which gives the mini drone good flight stability. The mini drone weighs about 1.6 lbs, which means it's lightweight and more comfortable to control even for a beginner.

Highlighted Features:

Even though there aren't many differences between the Mavic Pro Platinum and Mavic Pro, here are a few key features that give this mini drone some edge.

Noise Reduction:

The noise reduction is one of the few features in this mini drone that sets it apart from the Mavic Pro. The upgraded design of the Mavic Pro Platinum allows it to have a quieter operation.

This is mainly due to the refined propeller and engine design that significantly reduced sound in the videos as well.

The noise from the propellers might be disruptive for some pilots. That is why this mini drone is up to 4 decibels quieter than the Mavic Pro.

This figure measures up to 60% noise reduction, which is said to be possible because of the new Electronic Speed Control and the 8331 silent propellers. The 8331 propellers’ aerodynamic design and increased efficiency of the ESC ensure noise reduction.

Camera:

Many videographers and photographers have claimed that the Mavic Pro Platinum has one of the best cameras for a commercial mini drone. The impressive camera and image quality do not disappoint.

The camera features in this mini drone is the same as the one in the Mavic Pro. The camera offers a 28 mm lens along with a 78.8-degree FOV (Field of View). This means that you get enough room for wide landscape shots.

One of the more useful features for shooting stills is the portrait mode. The Mavic Pro Platinum can shoot in landscape orientation and rotate its lens to capture footage in portrait mode.

Image Quality:

The incredible camera on this mini drone offers an ISO range of 100-1600 for photographs. It also has an amazing shutter speed of 1/8000s.

The 12-megapixel camera allows you to take breathtaking and unforgettable photographs. The impressive footage you take with this camera can be saved in both DNG and JPEG formats.

Videography:

The Mavic Pro Platinum is every vlogger and filming-enthusiasts’ dream. The mini drone allows you to film in 4k at up to 30fps. Furthermore, you can also shoot in 1080p at up to 96 frames per second.

The thing about shooting with 4k is that you can use and store the footage for a long time. It even allows you to add effects such as slow-motion and vertigo effects.

For video, the mini drone’s camera supports an ISO of 100-3000. Furthermore, it also captures and stores in MOV or MP4 formats.

Capturing cinematic footage has become easy now more than ever with cameras such as these. The stability offered via the 3-axis gimbal, the drone, gives stable footage even while flying.

Flight Modes:

The Mavic Pro Platinum comes with several intelligent flight modes that will give you an exciting cinematic experience. These intelligent flight modes let the drone perform cinematic maneuvers automatically. Here are a few useful flight modes you’ll love.

Follow Me Mode:

You will be able to use this feature only if your tablet or smartphone has a GPS. This mode allows the drone to follow the transmitter’s direction automatically.

The distance between the transmitter and drone will be as when you activated the Follow Me mode. This mode allows you to be in the footage as well.

The Point of Interest Mode:

This mode is specifically for filming a particular object. You simply activate the mode and set the location or object you want to film as the point of interest by hovering the drone over that object.

You then let the drone fly away at the desired radius and set the speed along with the direction you want it to go. Once you adjust everything, just press go, and your drone will continuously circle the object and take footage.

Obstacle Avoidance Feature:

Obstacle avoidance sensors are a great feature to rely on, especially if you are an amateur user. This feature prevents the drone from colliding with objects which come in its path.

The Mavic Pro Platinum will stop automatically if it flies too close to an object. The FPV drone can detect objects up to 49 feet of itself. However, you should still be cautious.
